San Bernardino Sun,Dec 14 1988   Memoriam

Arden Owsley " Mac " Sims, 76, died Dec. 12 1988 of Compilcations from Alzheimer's. He was born Feb. 14, 1912, near Lost Prairie,Miller Co.Ar., the son of William Seburn and Mirtia Louise Faulkinbury Sims. Although he only went to school until the seventh grade, he was self-educated. He was adapt at math and could do calculations in his head faster than most people could using a calculator. Although his first love was farming and ranching,he was the proverbial"jack of all trades " He worked as a logger,a carpenter,a general store operator,a blacksmith,a horse trainer,a building contractor,a butcher,a municipal bus driver,a stone mason,and a service station owner-operator. He built at least two houses for his family from the ground up,using plans that he drew himself. Many people came to him for help with their farm equipment, if a part couldn't be bought,he could make it,repair it, or come up with some other way to get the job done.He always had a smile for everyone and could be counted upon as an "easy touch" for anyone who was in trouble or down on their luck. All in all,he was an old-fashioned "Southern Genlleman"

                                                                                ===========

Note: I know I should have put my notes in the Remembrace Page but then no one would have a clue who I was talking about.

I remember meeting my great uncle "Mack" a few times as a child and young adult and he was a very gentle man. Soft spoken and had a kind word for us kids. I remember after he became sick, he would wander away from home in California and hop a bus and come to Texarkana, Ar, where we lived,  and my grandfather George ,who was his brother,would call uncle Mack's  family to come pick him up. He always seemed to know the way home. He truly was a GREAT man.
