Mike Sims has taken a DNA test to try to find out who our line belongs to,and where we came from. Will keep you updated as information comes in.
Mike is the son of Mack Sims,who is my dad's [ George " Buddy " Sims Jr.] uncle, and I think we should all give him a great BIG thank you for this undertaking.
Michael A. Sims [ Mike ] has recived some results from his DNA test
Here is a Note he sent :
My DNA results give a close match to two other Sims who have traced their ancestors to William [ Symes ] Sims who died in 1716 Richmond Co. Va.
William Symes born ca.1665,Died 1716,Richmond Co.Va, married to Amy Clark
Thomas Sims Sr,born ca.1702,Richmond Co,Va, died 18 July 1785,Culpeper Co.Va., married to Rebecca Petty
Thomas Sims Jr, born ca. 1726,Richmond Co.Va, died 1809,Culpeper Co.Va, married to Mary Nalle
It appears that all of Thomas Sims Jr's sons are accounted for and we did not come from any of them. Therefore,we descended either from Thomas,Sr or from William Sims [ or perhaps a brother of William Sims if he had any ]. At least one son of Thomas Sims Sr went to Laurens Co,SC. This was Zachariah Sims born 1738 in Culpeper Co.Va., died 1789 in Laurens Co.SC., married to Elizabeth Graves,born 1755,died 1839,daughter of Thomas Graves of Culpeper Co.Va. Unfortunately,Zachariah died some 8 years before Asa Sims was born. But, maybe Asa was the son of a brother or cousin of Zach. So far, I cannot find any link.
The more I find, the more I think that nearly all the Sims in Virginia and South Carolina were related in some way.

Here is more information on John A. Sims that I found
John Alexander Sims born c. 1824 SC, he married c. 16 Jan 1851 Dekalb Co,Al. to Cathrine Orlinda / Orlenda " Katie O " Morgan.
Inlisted 4th calvary " Partisan Rangers " Guntersville, Al. Killed in battle March 17 1863,he was a Pvt. in the 4th Alabama Regiment,Co.H
===================
I have found several men who named their son John Alexander Sims, Dryden Sims, Zachariah Sims ,William Sims, Arthur Sims and one unknown Sims.
If Mike matched 7 for 7 , then there has to be a lead somewhere to our Asahel Sims, but so far another brick wall. This may or may not be the John Alexander Sims that Mike's markers match but am hoping I'm on the right track.
