I have found some information that Jacob Gaedschalk may have been the first Gottshall / Cutchall to arrive in America and the beginning of the Gotchall / Cutchall line.
Jacob Gaedschalk was born c. 1670 in Grog Germany, whick is in present day Kleve,Gr. He may have arrived in America around 1700 and is found in Pa. He was a preacher of the Minnonite church. He married unknown and had at least 5 or more children. I haven't found any reason they changed the surmane from Gaedschalk tp Gottshall as son's first name shows.

As you can see the German surname was Godshall, Gottshall,Gatshall,Gattschall. The surname changed over and over according to the whim of the census takers. Henry, great grandson of Peter changed his to Cutchall. Henry had a brother who changed his surname to Cutshall after a family dispute. Story goes that the brothers never spoke to each other again.

Parents of Mary Emma and Martha Sarah was William and Arabella/Arabilla unknown Oswald. On marriage record for Emma and Henry she is listed as M.E. Oswald.
